Lens-Connect Privacy Policy
Lens-Connect is a mobile application published by TabSense ("TabSense", "we", "us") that lets authorized staff of a business view that business's own security cameras. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the Lens-Connect app for iOS and Android.
Lens-Connect is a companion to the TabSense dashboard. It only works with a TabSense account issued to you by your employer or the business that operates the cameras.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The business that operates the cameras and holds the TabSense subscription (your employer, franchise or store owner) decides which cameras exist, who may view them, and how long recordings are kept. For camera footage, that business is the data controller and TabSense processes the footage on its behalf.
TabSense is the controller for the account and technical data described in sections 2 and 3, which we need to run the service.
2. Information the app collects
Account sign-in. When you sign in, the app sends your username (your TabSense dashboard email) and password to the TabSense server over an encrypted connection. The server returns a session token. The app stores that token in the device's secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore). Your password is never stored on the device.
Device label. At sign-in the app sends a short device description (device name and operating system, for example "iPhone (ios)") so that you and your administrator can see which devices hold an active session and sign one out remotely.
Profile details. After sign-in the app keeps your display name, email address, role and the list of branches you may access on the device so the app can show them without contacting the server each time.
Preferences. Your language choice, "keep screen on", "start streams muted" and your multi-view camera layout are stored on the device only.
Camera thumbnails. Shortly after a live stream starts playing, the app captures one still frame and uploads a small JPEG to the TabSense dashboard. It is used as the thumbnail for that camera in the camera list, in this app and in the web dashboard, for everyone authorized to see that camera. These thumbnails are camera images, not images of you.
Snapshots you take. When you tap the snapshot button, the app saves a still image to your device's photo library. Nothing is uploaded. This is the only reason the app asks for photo library access, and it asks only for permission to add photos, not to read your existing photos.
The app does not collect your location, contacts, calendar, microphone audio, or images from your phone's own camera. It does not read your photo library.
3. Information collected automatically
The TabSense servers and the video relay servers keep standard technical logs: the time of each request, your IP address, the camera requested and the outcome. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
The app contains no advertising, no analytics SDK and no third-party tracking. It does not use identifiers for advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
4. Camera footage
Live video and recordings are streamed directly from TabSense video relay servers to your device using encrypted WebRTC connections. Footage may show employees and customers at the business premises. The business operating the cameras is responsible for lawful use of its cameras, for any on-site signage required, and for how long recordings are retained on its recorder. Lens-Connect shows you only the cameras your account has been granted, and the app does not store video on the device except for snapshots you deliberately save.
5. How we use the information
We use the information above to:
- sign you in and keep you signed in on your device;
- show you the cameras, branches and recordings you are authorized to see;
- let you and your administrator manage active device sessions;
- keep the service secure and diagnose problems.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
6. Sharing
We share information only with:
- Your business's administrators, who can see your account, your device sessions and, like you, the camera thumbnails;
- Infrastructure providers that host the TabSense servers and video relays, under contracts that limit them to processing on our instructions;
- Authorities, when required by law.
7. Retention
Your session token remains valid until you sign out, an administrator revokes it, or your account is disabled. Signing out deletes it from the device and revokes it on the server.
Profile details and preferences stay on the device until you sign out or uninstall the app.
Camera thumbnails are replaced each time a newer frame is uploaded.
Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes and then deleted.
Recordings live on the business's own recorder and are retained according to that business's settings.
8. Security
Connections between the app and TabSense use TLS encryption. Video is delivered over encrypted WebRTC. Session tokens are stored in the platform's secure storage and can be revoked at any time. Access to cameras is enforced on the server according to the permissions your administrator has set.
9. Your choices and rights
Sign out at any time from the Me tab. This removes your session from the device and revokes it on the server.
Photo access can be withdrawn in your device settings; snapshots will then be unavailable but everything else works.
Account changes or deletion are handled by your business's TabSense administrator, since the account belongs to the business. You may also contact us directly and we will coordinate with the account holder.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us using the details below.
10. Children
Lens-Connect is a workplace tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify account holders through the TabSense dashboard.
